What Vaccinations Does My Pet Need?

At All Creatures Care Cottage, our professionals work closely with pet owners to determine which vaccinations are required for optimum health. While some vaccines are considered essential, or “core” vaccinations for diseases that are a high risk for pets, others may be recommended based on specific environmental or lifestyle concerns. These are known as “non-core” vaccinations. By determining which ones are necessary for your pet, you can give them the benefit of good overall health and wellness for many years to come!

When Will My Pet Need Vaccinations?

Some vaccinations may be administered while pets are in our office for an annual examination. Others may be on a different schedule, including those for puppies and kittens. Usually their vaccinations start around the time they are between eight to ten weeks old and require boosters every few weeks until they develop immunity and are protected against those diseases. Following that, most vaccinations are administered yearly. There are a few vaccinations that will not need to be done again for up to three years. It is essential that pet owners work with their veterinarian to develop a vaccination schedule for their loved ones to ensure coverage against preventable diseases.
