Though most animals visit All Creatures Care Cottage Veterinary Hospital for routine exams and minor procedures, our surgical suite has been equipped to handle complex procedures. Our highly trained staff has the experience you can trust should your pet require advanced care. Surgery is something that we approach with a great deal of seriousness.
We understand the concern that you feel about your pet, and we do not take this lightly. Knowing how important your pet family members are to you, we proceed with surgery very carefully. Our team is extensively trained to administer anesthesia and to meticulously perform treatment and monitoring for optimal outcome.
In many cases, IV fluids are continually delivered via an IV catheter, making sure that our patient receives adequate hydration throughout his or her procedure. Hydration is crucial to the perfusion of blood and proper function within vital organs, including the brain and the kidneys. An IV catheter also gives us immediate access to the bloodstream should we need to address an unforeseen complication.
In addition to hydration and monitoring vital signs, body heat is an important aspect of any surgical procedure. During procedures, we place a comfortable water-heated blanket under our patient to ensure hypothermia does not occur as a result of anesthesia. The specialized equipment in our facility also monitors cardiac activity during surgeries, providing us with vital data including carbon dioxide levels, temperature, oxygen levels in the blood, breathing rate, blood pressure, and pulse rate.
Some of the surgical procedures that may be performed by our experienced team include:
- Orthopedic procedures (including knee and hip surgery, fracture repair and arthroscopy)
- Soft tissue procedures
- Tumor removal
- Foreign body removal
- Spays and neuters
- Tooth extractions
- Removal of abscesses
- Skin grafts
- Intestinal resections
We are well aware of our capabilities as your trusted veterinary team. If, in any case, our facility is not equipped to handle the full scope of your pet’s needs, we will refer you to the most appropriate specialist.
The doctors and staff at All Creatures Care Cottage Veterinary Hospital have decades of experience treating a number of health conditions. We are here to provide your pets with the compassionate care they need.
